| You can learn everything about the history of the shipbuilding industry in Nagasaki
|
Theme
of the tour:
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., Nagasaki Shipyard and Machinery
Works was established in 1857 when the Tokugawa government started
the construction of a welding workshop under the name Nagasaki Yotetsusho
Foundry. (Before the foundry was completed its name was changed
to the Nagasaki Steering Manufacturing Co.)
The building that is now the history museum was constructed as a
wooden pattern workshop parallel to the foundry in 1898. The building
was renovated in 1985 and opened as a museum on the 30th of October
of the same year.
You can find out the history of our company from its origins through
to the present day at the history museum which holds the ships (Tenyo-maru,
Asama-maru and Musashi) as well as displays that include photographs,
written material and actual manufactured products such as turbines
and boilers. |
